The Truth About Mother’s Day

It’s not secret that PregoFIT loves celebrating Mothers, so of course the PregoFIT team snatched up the chance this Mother’s Day to ask people…”What does Mother’s Day mean to YOU?” Here’s what they said.

What is normal? What is healthy?!

Everyone wants to be ‘normal’.  Have you considered ‘being healthy’ instead of normal.  We believe a healthy Baby begins with Mom!  It starts with her thinking, which leads to her decisions.  So, begin asking yourself, ‘what is healthy?’ before each action you take. Bless you!

My Gift to the World

Hello Moms and Moms-to-be!  I am so excited to be writing this blog post!  It means five years of research, design, development, sweat and tears is complete and we are launching our entire program to the world.  When I sat down to write this blog I was reflecting on the last 5 years.  Out of curiosity I decided to take a look at all the places we have people using the PregoFIT Workout programs (TTC, Prenatal, and Postpartum).  It was so fun to see all the cities/states across the country where Mom’s are embracing the PregoFIT lifestyle and investing in both their, and their baby’s health.  As I continued to scan the locations, I was a little surprised, and excited, to see how many of our members where from outside the United States.  It is such a humble honor to touch so many different lives! After giving it a lot (read more…)

Women Trying To Conceive

Why Can't I Get Pregnant

Desiring a child and wanting to grow a family is such a special season.  It is also a perfect season for women to make lifestyle changes and prepare to be the healthiest Mom that they can be. One of the most common questions from a woman who is overweight and in this season, is the correlation between obesity and a woman’s ability to conceive. According to MayoClinic.com, obesity can affect a woman’s ability to get pregnant.  Carrying around extra weight can affect her production of estrogen, a hormone needed for regular ovulation.  Some overweight women have polycystic ovary syndrome.  Fat cells metabolize hormones, and an excess amount of fat can alter metabolism enough to interrupt the normal ovulatory cycle. The dangers of being overweight come into play when a woman’s BMI is above 35 Kg/m2, which is defined as morbid obesity.  Some providers suggest that a BMI above 30 Kg/m2 (read more…)

The Challenge of Exercise

Exercising these days can be difficult for many reasons — time, Mommy tasks, newborn duties, work, cleaning, etc…  However, the most challenging factor in exercising is ‘being creative with 3!’  In the past, I would put my two girls in the stroller, put on my running shoes, and take off.  Now, it isn’t that easy. Here are some ideas that have worked for me: 1) Ask Daddy to take one of the older children on a date and take the other child and the newborn in the double stroller.  This worked well a few times, but occasionally the one who didn’t go on a date with Daddy wished they did versus ride in the stroller.  2) Get up at 5:30am and take a jog before everyone begins waking up.  I am definitely a night owl, so this is so hard for me to do!  And, sometimes my husband isn’t able to leave for (read more…)

You don’t have to exercise like a Rock Star…just Exercise!

I am currently coaching several of my friends in all aspects of their life – physically, socially, professionally, family, spiritually, and long-term dreams.  I’m offering them accountability and helping them properly set goals that are according to their goals.  I’m having a lot of fun with each of them and it is so exciting to see them hit small goals, as well as hit milestones.  One of the girls set a goal of exercising four times each week, but was unsatisfied with her performance even when she would report that she hit her goal.  She would say that she ‘doesn’t feel like a Rock Star when she exercises’. I liked her analogy and could understand her thoughts and feelings, although I encouraged her to exercise anyway.  So much of exercising is staying committed to the exercise schedule.  I do think we need to exercise at 70-90% of our MHR (maximum heart rate) regularly (read more…)

Pregnancy and Nutrition – Moms, Choose To Eat Well During Pregnancy…and Exercise, Too!

Pregnancy and Nutrition – Moms, Choose To Eat Well During Pregnancy…and Exercise, Too! Pregnant women should be eating for quality rather than quantity.  During the first trimester, a woman shouldn’t necessarily eat more calories than when she wasn’t pregnant.  The difference might be that she will begin to eat more often.  So, instead of eating 3 large meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), a woman’s lightheadedness and nausea onset will cause her to crave foods about 6+ times a day (so snacking between ‘light’ meals).  During the second trimester, women can then add approximately 350 additional calories to their day and about 500 calories during the third trimester. Pregnant women need to stay within the recommended weight guidelines, which is relatively new thinking for this generation of pregnant women.  Your mother may tell you that HER doctor said to gain only 10 lbs., but times have changed… Today, much more is (read more…)

Healthy Mommy; Healthy Baby

There was a time when exercise during pregnancy was discouraged–but not anymore!  Times have changed, and experts now encourage exercise during pregnancy. In 2002, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists began recommending that pregnant women should exercise moderately for 30 minutes most days, if not every day (unless there are medical reasons prohibiting it). The PregoFIT Workouts follow the American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists guidelines for each month of pregnancy! So, give the PregoFIT Worouts DVD series as a gift to yourself or a friend to encourage a healthy Mommy and a healthy Baby!
