Getting to Know your (Unborn) Baby

Chris Maricle is such a gift! She has blessed my life again and again through so many seasons. My husband and I took her childbirth class during my first pregnancy. Once Hayden was born, she came to my house every month until Hayden was three years old, to teach me how be the best mom for Hayden during ‘that stage’ of her development. Working out and Breastfeeding

PregoFIT wants to encourage all Moms to workout after delivering their baby (or babies). Not only will you feel better losing your pregnancy weight, your baby (and other family members) will greatly benefit from your healthy lifestyle, too! Some Moms choose to workout before the other members of their house wakes up. Other Moms choose to do it in their living room with their children are napping or playing in the other room. Still others prefer “Mommy & Baby” classes, in order to stay close to baby. All of these options are great…as long as you are moving your body on a regular basis, and with the aim to shed those pregnancy pounds! Kegel Exercises

Strengthening Your Pelvic Floor Muscles The pelvic floor is made up of a group of muscles. The largest muscle in this group is the pubococcygeus muscle. The pelvic floor muscles may weaken due to aging, pregnancy, vaginal childbirth, injury, surgery, chronic cough, and/or lack of exercise. If your pelvic floor is weak, you may feel pressure from sagging organs, or you may experience certain types of incontinence (inability to control urine flow). Kegel exercises will help strengthen your pelvic floor to better hold organs in place and control your urine flow. A strong pelvic floor may also make sexual intercourse more enjoyable. If you have a type of incontinence called stress incontinence, you may leak urine when you lift heavy objects, cough, laugh, sneeze, or get up from a chair. My Gift to the World

Hello Moms and Moms-to-be! I am so excited to be writing this blog post! It means five years of research, design, development, sweat and tears is complete and we are launching our entire program to the world. When I sat down to write this blog I was reflecting on the last 5 years. Out of curiosity I decided to take a look at all the places we have people using the PregoFIT Workout programs (TTC, Prenatal, and Postpartum). It was so fun to see all the cities/states across the country where Mom’s are embracing the PregoFIT lifestyle and investing in both their, and their baby’s health. As I continued to scan the locations, I was a little surprised, and excited, to see how many of our members where from outside the United States. Moms, here is a quick checklist when packing your diaper bag: Hand sanitizer to help keep germs at bay and for when you can’t wash your hands Diaper pad so you can change your baby on any surface Disinfecting wipes to wipe down shopping carts, high chairs, and other things that your baby may touch Extra pacifiers and toys to keep your baby happy Empty plastic bags for stashing trash Change of clothes for when baby’s clothes are soiled

Ladies, sometimes we are too hard on ourselves! ;)

Last week one of my dearest friends had a baby. I went by her house to say, ‘hello’ and meet her little bundle of joy and as we were catching up on how incredible everything is going (smooth transition to breastfeeding, precious togetherness with baby, etc…) she said something that totally caught me off guard. Like all women, she began highlighting her ‘body flaws’. As she’s sharing her feelings, I am having this ironic internal monologue about how great she looks one week postpartum and here she is focused on a few minor areas that come with having a baby. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry. I quietly thought to myself about the countless times my husband said to me, “honey, you just had a baby, cut yourself some slack…you look great.” Well, for the first time, I understood what he was saying. Exercise….to look good, too!

This morning as I was trying to decide what to wear and I realized how thankful I am for staying committed to my exercise routine — running and strength training. There were several things in my closet that would have fit if I hadn’t been exercising, but they wouldn’t have looked good. You know the type of outfits with the elastic waist band that seem to have no boundaries to how far they can stretch (I can’t wait to burn those outfits!). So much of my soap box about choosing to make exercise and healthy foods a lifestyle habit, has to do with increasing your life-longevity, modeling healthy habits for your children, and depositing daily in yourself so you can be the best Mom for yourself and your family.
